After I had the stressful experience of my dog‘s prong collar unclipping and watching her bolt into a busy street (thankfully her recall command is strong and she was unharmed), I immediately went to purchase a safety clip. I liked this option the most because it’s sturdy and waterproof (easy to clean and less chance of getting smelly). It clips from her leash to her standard collar and remains as an emergency backup in case the prong collar unclasps again. This has happened once more in the past month and the clip has done its job keeping my 90 lb dog on the leash. The strength of the clip is only tested whenever the prong collar breaks, otherwise it sits relaxed between the leash and standard collar. The only downside I’ve found is that the clip is black and there’s a small color transfer from the clip to my dog’s light purple collar- a small price to pay for her safety, but hoping they consider making different/lighter colors. I can also see how for small dogs this clip may be too big, but if you have a pup on the larger side this clip is perfect!

I have 4 Dogo Argentinos. They are all over 100lbs and tend, no matter what to pull when we walk them. I am always afraid that the prong collar will somehow come off even though they are Herm Sprenger collars. This adds that extra level of confidence that if they do slip the prong or it detaches, they are still attached by the back-up collar with this clip.I like the material that the clips are made of. So far it seems sturdy enough for these big guys and the fact that they are waterproof is a must! I will be buying from this company again in the future.

I have used these clips daily for 4 days and within 5 minutes of starting our walk my dog is able to shake these unclipped. It happens multiple times a walk. It’s like someone put butter in the clip and it just doesn’t stay secure.

They do the job but are too long in my opinion and as such, they irritate the dog as they’re flapping onto their side while walking. Dogs keep shaking their head/neck.
